ASTM B200 Test Specimens

Updated: Dec 7, 2022

Metaspec manufactures test specimens and panels used in quality testing by ASTM B200, which covers electrodeposited coatings of lead and lead-tin alloys on steel and ferrous alloys. The production or quality control requirements generally require that the plated parts be tested for conformance to ASTM B200. However, some parts (due to shape or size) can't be tested. In those cases, the specification describes 'separate specimens' that are plated together with the other parts and then tested at the end of the plating process for conformance.

The following tests in ASTM B200 require test specimens. Click on the test method number for more information about specimens required for each test.

  • ASTM B200 Separate Test Specimens

    • Thickness (test per ASTM B487, B499, B504, B567, or B568 as applicable)

    • ASTM B571 Adhesion

    • ASTM B117 Corrosion Resistance

    • ASTM B200 §11.5 Hydrogen Embrittlement Relief
