ASTM B200 Separate Test Specimens

Separate test specimens used to evaluate plated parts as described in ASTM B200 (Electrodeposited Coatings of Lead and Lead-Tin Alloys on Steel and Ferrous Alloys). These types of lead-tin coatings are sometimes known as "terne" metallic electrodeposits. ASTM B200 separate test specimens (also called panels) are made from the same alloy as the steel or ferrous parts that are being coated. ASTM B200 defines three types of separate test specimens:

  • Thickness and Adhesion Specimens: 25 mm x 100 mm x 1 mm (1" x 4" x 0.039")
  • Corrosion Resistance Specimens: 100 mm x 150 mm x 1 mm (4" x 6" x 0.039")
  • Hydrogen Embrittlement Specimens: configuration defined by purchaser

ASTM B200 separate test specimens are available in a range of different alloys and surface finishes. Contact us to learn more.
