49 CFR §571.116 S6.11 Corrosion Specimens

Metal test specimens used for testing hydraulic brake fluid by 49 CFR §571.116 S6.11 (Resistance to Oxidation). This test is run in duplicate, and uses two test specimen assemblies. Each assembly uses one cast iron and one aluminum specimen as described in SAE J1703, as well as two 1/2" square peces of tin foil (99.9% tin, 0.02-0.06 mm thick). The specimens and the foil are assembled with mild steel machine screws (with the foil between the cast iron and aluminum specimens).
