MIL-PRF-83936 §4.4.4 Test Panels

Metal test panels used to test paint removers by MIL-PRF-83936 §4.4.4 (Paint Removal Performance). Each panel is 3" x 6" x 1/16". This test uses 18 test panels, or six panels of three different metals as shown in MIL-PRF-83936 Table III.

2024-T3 Aluminum (ASTM B209) - anodized per MIL-A-8625 Type II Class I
AZ31B Magnesium (AMS 4377) - chrome pickled per MIL-M-3171 Type III*
1020 Steel - cadmium plated per MIL-STD-870 Type II Class 1

*Note that the MIL-M-3171 chrome pickle treatment specified in MIL-PRF-83936 is no longer used or commercially available in the US. Metaspec can provide untreated magnesium panels or an alternate surface treatment instead of MIL-M-3171.
