MIL-PRF-16173 §4.6.10 Removability Test Specimens

Steel test specimens used in testing by military specification MIL-PRF-16173 §4.6.10 (Removability). Each test panel or specimen is made with cold rolled high carbon steel, 2" x 2" x 1/8" with a 1/8" hole centered 1/8" from one edge (see Figure 3). These test specimens are used with the removability test apparatus shown in Figure 2 to determine the removability characteristics of the corrosion preventive compound. MIL-PRF-16173 outlines more than one test procedure for removability, depending on the grade of the corrosion preventive compound being tested, but each method requires eight test specimens.
