MIL-A-8625 Quality Control Test Specimens

Process control test specimens used for MIL-A-8625 (Anodic Coatings for Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys). These test specimens are used for process control and quality conformance by manufacturers, platers, and inspectors. Quality control test specimens are used in checking the coating weight, coating thickness, corrosion and light fastness resistance, and abrasion resistance.

  • Coating Weight: the test specimen is a minimum of 3" wide, 3" long, and 0.032" thick.
  • Coating Thickness: the test specimen is a minimum 3" wide, 3" long, and 0.032" thick.
  • Corrosion & Light Fastness: the test specimen is a minimum 3" wide, 10" long, and 0.032" thick.
  • Abrasion Resistance: the test specimen is a minimum 4" wide, 4" long, and 0.063" thick.
  • Regular test panels are PVC-coated on both sides, cut to size, deburred, and packed in bundles. These panels may have some minor surface defects and will have mill oil on the surface, as these are the sheets in “as-received” condition from the aluminum mill.
