ASTM D5656 Lap Shear Specimen

Lap shear specimens used in adhesive testing by ASTM D5656 (Thick-Adherend Metal Lap-Shear Joints for Determination of the Stress-Strain Behavior of Adhesives in Shear by Tension Loading). This test specimen is specifically designed for thick or rigid specimen materials, such as metal plate. Aluminum alloys are recommended, but the method can be used for other thick metals and rigid materials.
 
Each test specimen is 9" x 9" x 0.375"; the test method requires two test specimens, which are adhesively bonded, cured, and then saw-cut into 1" wide samples for further testing. We can provide the panels for you to apply the adhesive in your laboratory and return to us for precision saw cutting.
