ASTM D3167 Peel Test Panels
Test panels used in ASTM D3167 (Floating Roller Peel Resistance of Adhesives). This test uses a rigid test panel and a flexible test panel to determine the relative peel resistance of adhesive bonds. These test panels are also called adherends or test specimens. When the two adherends are bonded together with the test adhesive, they're referred to as laminated test panels. After the test adhesive is fully cured, the laminated test panels are cut into strips. Using a test fixture, the flexible adherend is peeled away from the rigid adherend; the force needed to break the adhesive bond between the two adherends or panels is measured as the relative peel resistance.
ASTM D3167 recommends using 2024-T3 clad aluminum. The flexible test panels is 3" x 10.2" x 0.025"; the rigid test panel is 3" x 8.25" x 0.064". Customized test panels for modified versions of this test method are available on request.
