ASTM D2295 Shear Test Specimens

Metal shear test specimens used in ASTM D2295 (Strength Properties of Adhesives in Shear by Tension Loading at Elevated Temperatures - Metal-to-Metal). These test specimens can be made from various metals, but 18-8 (type 302) and 17-7PH stainless steel are recommended.
 
ASTM D2295 test specimens can be prepared for testing individually or as two panels of five specimens overlapped (ten total), as shown in ASTM D2295 Figure 3. The test specimens are nominally 0.050" thick. The individual test specimens are 1" x 4" and have a 0.281" hole drilled at one end; the panel of uncut test specimens measures 5.25" x 8".
