ASTM D1781 Adhesive Peel Specimens

Aluminum test specimens (also called adherends) used in ASTM D1781 (Climbing Drum Peel for Adhesives). These specimens are made from 2024 clad aluminum, and are 1" x 10" x 0.020". In testing the adhesive, the aluminum specimen is bonded to a rigid core material or to a honeycomb-type material to create a sandwich specimen assembly. A climbing drum peel apparatus is used to measure the peel resistance of the adhesive between the flexible aluminum adherend and the rigid adherend. Customized test specimens for modified versions of this test method are available on request.
